Marketing Campaigns

Traditional marketing - Posters, Billboards, Teasers, Trailers

Teaser Posters - Not a lot of information ( normally only date of release )
Official Poster - Has the title, character, slogan, date, and actors

Websites - Interactive, visual, links to social marketing

Social Marketing - Each character actor/character had their own 
pages, twitter pages etc.

Viral Marketing Campaigns - only made possible through digital media
 Blair Witch: A website was made to look like a real myth and the was currently being investigated,   the teens go missing
 They created a promo real that producers thought was a real documentary
 Police officers were actually looking for the lost teens
 The website made the audience believe that everything was real.
Press Marketing - allowing the press access to your set or pre- release images of characters etc will encourage them to make a main feature from your film or even a cover
Often magazines offer a variety of covers when a blockbuster comes out

PR stunts - a globally popular event watched by millions opens with James bond and the queen entering the stadium
Unexpected
word of mouth
National Treasures
Free advertising for the current bond too

Fan created marketing - through websites, forums, twitter, fan fiction, fan made merch, fan made posters

Issues for those in charge of marketing campaigns - 

  • it is in their contracts the actors are told how big the will be in posters
  • some times the films are just flops and lots of money is spent on the advertising
