Humans mini mock
Within the tv show "Humans" there are many binary oppositions presented in order to explore different issues we see in our society. Humans is an analogy of our world today, therefore one of the main binary oppositions within the show is the representation of men and women. Claude Levi Struass believed that we have binary oppositions to understand one thing from another. For example, we have men because the opposite is women. We can see a very clear binary opposition between the Leo, one of the main protagnosist within the ensemble cast, and Anita. Leo is constructed to be an assertive and dominant character within his confrontation scene. The use of close up shots within this scene conveys the idea that Leo is not to be messed with, as the close proximity of these shots allows the producer to really capture Leo's anger and threatening nature through his facial expressions that show this. Additionally, within this scene Leo holds up a photograph of Anita. Within the photo Anita's skin is pale and therefore bright, contrasting with the natural background of the picture, we are presented with this idea of purity, which heavily opposes the rough environment in which Leo's confrontation scene takes place, as the alley is dirty and defaced.
